Effective 29 July 2026
Terms of use
These terms govern use of TravBud, provided by BlueCurrent WebStudios, Stellenbosch, 7600. Contact Ulrich Lategan at info@ulilategan.co.za. By accepting an invitation, creating an account, or using TravBud, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
The service
TravBud helps travel companions record budgets, expenses, allocations, and settlements. It is a record-keeping and planning tool—not a bank, payment service, accountant, financial adviser, tax adviser, or guarantee that companions will repay one another. Users remain responsible for checking amounts, exchange rates, and settlement decisions.
Accounts and invitations
Access is invitation-only. Provide accurate information, protect credentials and recovery methods, and notify us promptly of suspected compromise. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless caused by our failure to apply legally required care. Administrators may access accounts for authorised support and security purposes; such “View as” sessions are visibly identified and audited.
Trip information and acceptable use
Only upload information you may lawfully use and share. Do not misuse invitations, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, interfere with service operation, impersonate others, or use TravBud unlawfully. Trip owners control membership settings but do not automatically gain permission to edit another traveller’s private expense history.
Availability and changes
We aim to provide a secure and reliable service, including limited offline capture, but internet, device, hosting, and third-party failures may interrupt it. Keep independent records where a trip expense is important. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practical.
Intellectual property
TravBud software, branding, and original content belong to us or our licensors. You retain rights in information you submit and grant us only the permission needed to host, process, back up, display, and transmit it to provide the service.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict an account where reasonably necessary for security, suspected unlawful use, material breach, or protection of other users. You may request account closure and export subject to legal retention, trip-member rights, immutable audit/ledger requirements, and backup cycles.
Liability and consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for companion disputes, user-entered errors, third-party exchange rates, indirect loss, or events outside reasonable control. Any limitation is subject to fairness, reasonableness, and applicable consumer law.
Disputes and law
Contact us first and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve a complaint. These terms are governed by South African law. Courts with lawful jurisdiction in South Africa may hear disputes, without limiting any right to approach a consumer authority or regulator.
Prepared with reference to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, and POPIA. Obtain independent South African legal review before commercial launch.
